Men's
and Women's Doubles Leagues:
Last year we had over seven hundred men, women, and children participating
in our unique and comprehensive tennis league program. A league
is a group of twelve or sixteen men or women of similar ability
who play for two hours each week. Leagues are organized for all
ability levels from beginner to tennis professional. Each week,
each player will play a set with each of three different partners.
The total number of sets won and lost will be tabulated, and standings
will be kept based on the win-loss percentage. Our leagues give
you a chance to play with a number of different players of the same
ability. We will evaluate you if you are in doubt of your ability
level so that you will placed in the proper league.
Singles
Leagues:
Olympic Indoor has the most extensive singles league play in Columbus
for both men and women. Leagues meet once a week for one hour. Each
week, a pro set is played and standings are kept. Leagues consist
of 8 to 20 players.
World
Team Tennis:
Olympic hosts this national program that consists of
teams of two men and two women playing a combination of singles
(men's and women's), doubles (men's and women's) and mixed doubles.
Team
Tennis for Women Players:
Olympic Indoor would like to invite you to be a part of our highly
successful team tennis program. Last winter we had forty teams of
women at the 2.5 to 4.5 ability participating in our unique program.
Women from Swim and Racquet, Worthington Hills, Northam Park, Olympic,
Grove City, Scioto, Grandview, Worthington Cardinal, Westerville
and other clubs have participated in the past. Here are the details
of the program:
-
Each
team consists of eight women ( or more if the team wants regular
substitutes)
-
All
matches for a team will be on the same day of the week, but
part of the time you will play at other times between 9am and
3pm on that same day
-
You
pay only the court time each week. There is no registration
cost or extra charge for clinics. We feel that our program,
which is competitively programmed with our outstanding clinics,
will get you ready for this summer's GCTA outdoor program.
-
A
two hour block of time will be reserved for your team for the
thirty-five week season. In that block of time each team will
be scheduled to have either a match, clinic, or round-robin.
There will be:
-
Twenty-eight
matches against other teams in your league
-
Three
teaching clinics taught by Steve Ryuse, Michelle Jarrett, Mike
Haddow, Hans Buckendahl, Erick Iskersky, Amos Allison, Vickie
Reef and Sally Sutton will deal with drills and strategy designed
to make you a better doubles player.
-
Four
round-robin sessions with your teammates
4.0-4.5 Teams play on Tuesday
3.5-4.0 Teams play on Wednesday
3.0-3.5 Teams play on Thursday
2.5-3.0 Teams play on Monday
